No I don't. Libnss (/usr/lib/libnss3.so) was just upgraded today (via aptitude) - don't know if that's affected things. I didn't previously experience this error.
Had previous problems with binding to my LDAP server with Ubuntu 6.10 (works fine in Fedora Core, Mac, etc.). I followed a methodology similar to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LDAPClientAuthentication. i ended up restoring previous copies of /etc/libnss-ldap.conf & /etc/pam.d/common-* after system hangs at startup. let me know if you need anything else!
