Public bug reported:

I think this is related to Bug #65676, but I just removed libnss-mdnss
and it left my system unable to resolve names via getaddrbyname() (I
think, going from memory here). The reasoning being is that it didn't
seem to edit the nsswitch.conf file back to its pre mdnss state and
hence all resolves were failing due to the lib not being there and mdnss
having priority over normal dns.

** Affects: nss-mdns (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
