startup disc creator fails to format my usb.. i click "format" after 5 minutes the program is clickable again, but still an orange triangle at the usb location.. unetbootin in linux installs the live usb image to my usb drive no problem, i reboot, select usbkey in the bios menu, reboot, boot error. i install the live usb with unetbootin on windows, install takes 2 hours?, reboot, choose usbkey in bios, reboot, i get a unetbootin screen with three options: default, HELP, oem something. (why doesn't unetbootin use the ubuntu cd bootloader? ) i select default, kernelpanic i secelt default, press tab, change quiet splash -- to acpi=off noapic pnpbios=off quiet splash --. unetbootin bootloader sais it unpacks something(this takes 2 secconds), something (what i think is the splash screen) that looks like my screen is burning a brown spot(ubuntulogo shaped), the screen flashes 2 times and the live cd desktop starts, i open firefox and write this comment. default setting results in kernel panic. the acpi=off noapic pnpbios=off quiet splash -- workaround still works.
