Dave: You are correct except that in step 3 you open PDF with Evince. I think that is what you meant since OOCalc is unable to open PDF documents. On my system, you just double click the PDF file in step 3.
I use PDF to exchange documents with the bank and business partners to ensure correct printed copy. Everything was okay until recently. Could you please verify with the "OOCalc PDF export bug.PDF" file attached to this bug report. Originally I sent this file to the bank and the bank officer called back saying there were no signatures etc. I pulled the document off the bank system and confirmed to the bank officer that the images are there. Ffter going back and forth for several times, I finally printed the document in question out on my Xerox Phaser 6100 printer from my Ubuntu system and the images indeed were missing on paper. Hence I assume that the same thing happened in my bank when they received the document. I am sure they print from Adobe PDF Reader on Windows system onto black and white laser printer. There is something wrong with the PDF file for sure. Could you please double check and to report back to me. The problem could be printer specific, I do not know for the fact. My printer relies on SpliX for rendering, and I can ask the bank officer what exactly caused him a problem. It is possible that in his case images were missing on screen as well. So here are the questions. 1. Do you observe the problem with attached PDF file? 2. Could you please compare the PDF you get when exporting from OOCalc with the one attached (e.g. by using diff command) 3. Could you please open attached PDF file with Adobe Reader on Windows system and check it from there. I just do not have Windows system available.
