I just noticed that this bug is only present on my pcs that have the xorg-edgers ppa enabled. I installed the package "ppa-purge", run the commnad "sudo ppa-purge xorg-edgers", then disabled the xorg-edgers ppa and restarted and I havent run into this problem again.
