Not only Vodafone Mobile Connect, but now Alice Modem Manager (a branded
version of Huawei's software) is no longer able to connect. I still need it to
switch the key into modem mode (from productId 1446 to 140C), but then have to
dial using Kppp, and lose the connection management features.
So, now the situation is half broken either way; without the modem manager, the
modem isn't switched into the "proper" mode, neither usb_modeswitch or
modem_modeswitc work; with the modem manager installed, I now have to switch to
kpp to dial, after the update to kernel 2.6.31-16
