I could not use google-earth on kubuntu 9.10 64 - fresh install. The program starts but I get a server-connect-error. I tried for days different solutions. But nothing works.
Problem completely solved by specifying Opendns as my DNS servers (https://store.opendns.com/setup/device/ubuntu/).
