I can confirm that an identical bug is occurring with my installation of karmic running on an HP compaq6120. My debug logs read identically to the OPs. TIFM detects the card in the same socket, just as with the OP, but there appears to be no folders for the device generated under /dev or /media or anywhere else I could fathom.
