I am having the same problem with a fresh install of 9.10, I used to be able to connect to shares with 9.04, and now cannot with 9.10. I hope "pharmankur" can be a little more specific about the packages to be removed because am having the same problem as Laszlo.
I will comment back here if I find a solution. It looks like it should be prompting for authentication, but it is not getting that far.
