Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus
When my documents folder contains PDF files, the folder freezes while trying to load the file list. I dropped to terminal to move the files out of the document folder into my home folder. Once in my home folder, there was no longer a problem. If I make another folder and call it something other than "Documents," there is not a problem viewing the PDFs. However, if I delete the documents folder and rename the other folder Documents, the problem returns. I have created a separate folder for PDFs, and this work around seems to have resolved the issue for the time being. Other users seem to have this problem. Here is a pertinent UbuntuForums thread (on which I posted as well): http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8410105#post8410105 Process to repeat: 1. Put PDF file in Documents folder 2. Attempt to open Documents folder in Nautilus Expected result: Documents folder opens and lists all its contents Actual result: Documents folder freezes and does not list contents Description: Ubuntu 9.10 Release: 9.10 ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Sun Nov 29 17:35:12 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/nautilus InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release i386 (20091028.5) Package: nautilus 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu2 ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-15.50-generic SourcePackage: nautilus Uname: Linux 2.6.31-15-generic i686 ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- Documents folder won't load if it contains PDF files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/490142 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
