Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-app-install
In Feisty: 1 Edit sources.list to exclude multiverse. 2 apt-get update. 3 Click on add/remove software, and find either "ubuntu restricted extras" and "xine extra plugins" 4. install both Although the description of ubuntu restricted extras mentions multiverse, several multiverse packages are installed without prompting me to change my repositories! This is much to easy a slip into non-free. Xine extra plugins (which is just libxine-extracodecs) doesn't mention that it is in multiverse. I do want some of these packages, but e.g. not flashplugin-nonfree. In any case, I was not asked to update my repositories, and my sources.list still exclude multiverse after this exercise, though several packages were installed from said repository: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$cat /etc/apt/sources.list deb http://proxy.aims.ac.za/apt-cacher/za.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty main restricted universe #multiverse deb http://proxy.aims.ac.za/apt-cacher/za.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-updates main restricted universe #multiverse deb http://proxy.aims.ac.za/apt-cacher/security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-security main restricted universe #multiverse The said packages should require a repository change with all the attached warnings and information about non-free software. ** Affects: gnome-app-install (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- non-free packages installed without adequate warnings https://launchpad.net/bugs/87965 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
