I'd much prefer to address the performance issue with your SSD then grow the initramfs with modules for what I consider to be a unique installation environment. Could you install to your SSD, install all updates (including one in -proposed), install the pybootchartgui package, reboot *twice*, and then attach the .png files in /var/log/bootchart to this bug? We may be able to determine why you are having so much trouble with your SSD.
