Habbit: My motherboard is not failing, it is known that all the ATI
RS480/RS482 motherboards are buggy... people are basically being sold
(partially) broken hardware, something that is quite common these days.
Such hardware needs various workarounds to function properly, often done
in eg. Windows drivers.
hggdh: I don't really understand - it's naturally in a text mode, since
if I leave the "splash" parameter in the boot line, the computer hangs
completely, monitor shuts down and I can't get any output. I now tried
using lower usplash settings, but it didn't change naything.
