** Description changed:

After rebooting Ubuntu, MB raid BIOS finds one additional non-working
RAID disk array which is completely spurious and consist of a normally
  standalone disk.

- Motherboard is GigaByte GA-EP45-DS3, Intel P45 + ICH10, in software raid
+ Motherboard is GigaByte EP45-UD3R, Intel P45 + ICH10R, in software raid
mode set via bios. Reset button does not help solve the issue, only full
shutdown and power-up. If I continue booting into Windows 7 after the
RAID array has been misdetected, it boots but does not see all drives
(apparently standalone ones for which it thought it had a broken RAID
array). The existing RAID array works normally.

It seems Linux kernel accesses / inits the IDE controler and BIOS in
such way to confuse it after reboot in this peculiar manner.

If you need more info, help debugging or testing patches for this
  problem, I'm available via e-mail.
