Because I was too tired to read i suspect, and my apologies for that. However, having downloaded and compiled 1.9.15, I still can't get a date on the x-axis. The y-axis is fine, but there is no Format tab on the X-Axis1 "Customise Chart" widget. Attempting to put it in manually doesn't work either.
