Binary package hint: kdeplasma-addons
The lock/logout widget will not provide the option to shutdown/restart
the computer if GDM is used. if you switch to KDM it works. This was
not the same on the previous OS version (9.04).
To recreate:
Install gnome/kde. Configure system to use GDM as the login manager.
During login, select KDE desktop. When logged in add the lock/logout
widget to the kicker panel. Click on the power icon and the only option
available is logout. Reconfigure system to use KDM as the login
manager. Reboot system and log in to KDE desktop. Now click on power
icon and you have shutdown/restart options in addition to logout.
Troubleshooting included removing .kde and all .gnome directories as
well as creating a brand new test account that did not previously have a
home directory so it was completely clean.
