Why use 1.9.0? It is pretty old and was the first development release in the 1.9-1.10 branch. You should use either 1.8.4 or a more recent version such 1.9.15. Date sequence axes have been implemented since then (not in 1.8). The functionality appeared in goffice-0.7.7.
