I reinstalled compiz with 'compiz --replace &' (either as user or as
root). I checked evolution and the weirdness is still there! I cannot
reproduce my previous observations. Sorry. But I am sure that the
first time that I went to compiz it did cure the Evolution problem. I
did change some settings in compiz after I launched it the first time.
Right now I have a variety of things checked in compizconfig (desktop
cube, Viewport switcher, rotate cube, 3D windows, animation, window
decorations... I didn't have anythings checked in
System->Preferences->Appearance->Visual Effects and checking the "Extra"
button makes no difference. I am using an Nvidia GE Force 8600 GT
display card with driver 185.18.36. I will keep checking to see if I
can find the combinations of things that led to my former observation.
