Totem doesn't work for me.

** Description changed:

  Ubuntu 9.10 fully updated

CPU: Intel Core Duo T2050 (2x1.6Ghz)
Video card: ATI Radeon Xpress 200M

I can't watch 720p videos because the video gets choppy (stucks at one
frame and remains blocky for about five seconds) when there is a high
- bitrate section (in VLC and in MPlayer too). When the video plays
- smoothly xorg uses 30% of the CPU. The video gets stuck when VLC uses
- about 89-105% CPU (xorg cpu usage drops to 15-16%) according to top.
- Gnome System Monitor says 30% CPU usage on the first core,100% on the
- second core when the video becomes unwatchable ,but never reaches 100%
- on both cores.
