This is also happening to me when using the 'Escape' button on my MCE Remote to stop recordings. Each time the screen goes black, and the recording list does not appear.
Pressing 'Esc' on the keyboard exits the recording and displayes the recording list normally. Changing the keybinding to something other than 'Escape' does not seem to have any effect and the problem still exists. If recording finishes normally and exits back to the Recording List then Recording List displays normally.
