Public bug reported: Binary package hint: dbus
sshd keeps on restarting and kdm does not start at all. I investigated kdm, it does no start because hald is not running. In its turn hald fails because it cannot find the dbus socket in /var/run/dbus . Dbus runs but it runs as root instead of the messagebus user. The messagebus user does exist and the permissions on /var/run/dbus are set correctly (to messagebus.messagebus). Ubuntu was freshly installed (through fully automated preseed) and filesystems were created 'regular' and without lvm, i.e. there is one root partition and one swap partition.
