-I can confirm, BIOS upgrade followed by clean install with mmc disabled means that laptop now suspends and resumes/. This implies two problems. Something in the BIOS that upgrading the BIOS fixes, something in the mmc controller. Both need to be fixed for your laptop to resume reliably.
