Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

When returning from hibernation, sometimes the screensaver triggers and
there is no login box and no way to unlock the computer. With the
"drempels" screensaver and "regard the computer as idle after 1 minute",
the machine appeared to load the hibernation file correctly, but I got a
single frame of the screensaver during the "fade up". I was able to
switch to Ctrl+Alt+F1 and kill drempels at which point the 9.10
welcome/login screen appeared.

One problem is the lockup, but a second point is that the screensaver
should not trigger in that situation - it was as if it was the time the
machine was hibernating was counted as idle time. I've had a similar
problem with the "euphoria" screensaver, where Ctrl+Alt+F1 has not
worked and it has not been possible to log in remotely.
