It hasn't been fixed at all, it's just been ignored and listed as fixed,
like many bugs lately, to get it off the buglist quick.

What does that have to do with mounting /var/log and /var/tmp on tmpfs?
That is what most people want to do for the sake of their SSDs, not
mount all of /var, and you're not addressing it.  Mounting /var on tmpfs
is not really the issue.

Why is it that this worked fine in all previous versions?  That is,
until people started using the ability, and then suddenly it was
'broken'.
