I my case, I think the true problem is related to the incompatibility of this driver with ATI RV3XX Series card, which explain the "No devices detected". See : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/284408
After manually installing all /etc/ati/ missing files, amdpcsdb was generate automatically after aticonfig invocation. But since the fglrx module could not be load properly just before... All these are useless. Having a driver from ATI which supports old GPU series, compiles and runs with recent kernel and xserver, is not for now... Anyway and at least, the Xorg team did a very good work with the free radeon driver. It is a little bit slower, but after having found a good balance between the driver performance and Compiz Settings, it works quite well. :) -- fglrx fails at startup because of missing amdpcsdb.default + removal leaves bad settings in Xorg.conf https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/440233 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
