Public bug reported: I'm running a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 on an Acer Aspire Timeline 4810T-8480, which contains a Matshita UJ-862AS DVD-RAM. I cannot mount or do anything to the drive and am getting some strange messages in the logs. The drive seems to work in a Windows 7 install on a different partition but does not work at all in Ubuntu.
This is killing me and although I see some complaints about problems using this device in Linux (seems like various distributions and kernel versions), I'm not seeing the same problem as I have - complete failure of the device. I'm happy to do some serious debugging if anyone can start pointing me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.
