My boot times in Karmic are longer than jaunty ever took despite stopping a lot
of services from starting at starup.
I have a Dell E6400 with Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo t9...@2.53ghz), 4GB RAM and
Seagate 160GB 7200 RPM.

I had upgraded initially but then installed a clean version with ext4
but the boot time did not improve.
