I'm experiencing a similar problem under Ubuntu 9.10 - at this point the docklets are part of the Ubuntu repos.
Version: 0.8.2-0ubuntu1 Expected behaviour: Docklet icon should show an icon representing how much charge the battery has, and should show an overlay on the icon when the battery is charging. Also, on mouseover, a text popup of the battery status should be shown. Observed behaviour: Docklet icon always shows a grey battery symbol, with what appears to be a US style plug in it, implying completely flat, but on AC power.
