Public bug reported: I am using Karmic 9.10. This is a regression in hardware detection.
I don't know which package is involved, possibly hal? I plugged in my Philips Skypephone into a USB slot. What happens usually (in Intrepid and Jaunty) is that the phone is detected and an icon appears on the desktop. Also, when I open Nautilus File Browser the phone is visible as a drive. I can then open up Skype and select the Philips Skypephone as my Sound Device. This did not happen in Karmic - no icon appears, it does not appear in Nautilus and I can't find it as an option when I open up Skype. The device appears in lsusb and dmesg. This is an important issue for me, I may reinstall Intrepid because I need my cheap Skype phone calls and I don't want to have to buy another Skypephone or headset. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Philips VOIP080 USB Skypephone not detected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/472883 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
