We just accepted an updated qtiplot into karmic-proposed, the package is available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback at bug 471238 if it fixes your problem. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance! (you may have to remove the qtiplot you installed from the ppa first and remove the ppa from your sources list before installing the new version from -proposed)
