Well, this new behavior is equivalent of "breaking" compiz for me. I was very comfortable with the old behavior of compiz naturally allowing windows to be resized across displays... I'll try the workaround, but this new behavior is counterintuitive, and should be treated as a bug. It's only with compiz that this happens... if I disable compiz, I can naturally resize windows across multiple displays.
