This affects me to.

I can boot with the last kernel used in Jaunty, but I had two kernels
installed in Jaunty, and when i upgraded to Karmic, one new Kernel was
installed but the menu.lst wasn't updated. update-grub said the same
than LimCore.

I rename menu.lst, and generated other one, and all update-grub works
again creating a fresh menu.lst without problems. But if i had deleted
all my old kernels, i hadn't could boot anymore.
