Hi again, After disabling desktop effects, and waiting for a while (?) the X-server restarted and now I can use the external monitor and internal in mirror mode (I have external at 1600x1200, internal at 1024x768). Other configurations (xrandr --output VGA1 --above LVDS1...) do not change anything.
