I've done (after uncommenting the first two lines of .vnc/xstartup) $ sudo chmod 755 /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc
but still grey screen I restored xterm, then tried: $ gnome-session The program 'gnome-session' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)'. (Details: serial 75 error_code 1 request_code 146 minor_code 2) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) $ Still no way to get a desktop with any vnc server in feisty? -- vnc4server does not start Desktop environment after security update https://launchpad.net/bugs/78282 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
