My modem: ONDA MSA501HS Kernel: 2.6.31-14-generic Ubuntu 9.10 (my desktop OS version, installed as released in 29th Oct)
Same problem: after pluged in, shows it as a pendrive. Don't matter if you eject it, it's not reconized as a modem anymore.
