Public bug reported:

Hi all, first of all I'm not really an Linux expert but I think this is a bug
because I never had any similar problems until I downloaded and installed
Karmic Koala. I installed it on the same external USB drive (transcend 250GB)
in the exact same way as I did with Jaunty but on the first boot I noticed that
the boot-up time was much much longer than with Jaunty. Afterwards, when I
tried to boot it tomorrow morning it just came to the brown screen with the
progress bar and then turned black and completely idle. I had to shut it down
by holding the power button. Then, on another boot I got the boot-menu with
options for recovery. I chose that and I have noticed that some odd messages
were there like: I/O errrs with my external USB, then something like "could not
enumerate" USB devices... Now after a few forced shut downs I cannot boot it or
better say, sometimes it boots up and sometimes it just halts. Also, I booted
it on battery and then when I plugged the cord in, it froze completely and went
into restart. Also, in recovery mode, in the end it comes to "battery checking"
and halts.
I hope I have given you enough info. Like I said I'm not a Linux expert but
definitely, there is something wrong because Jaunty worked without ANY problems
(except that I had to spend some time setting up the mic. for Skype).
Thank you!
Sasha.
