subchee, I haven't downloaded the full sources, but I picked the rs400.c file from the 2.6.32-rc5 git tag, and the patch applied well. So I guess you are not running the patch command correctly. Try something like: "patch drivers/gpu/drm/radeon/rs400.c ~/Desktop/patch-from-dave.patch" and use the raw patch from http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/next/linux- next.git;a=commitdiff_plain;h=ea1495a6274c9542a168337536f8ce74d1173f23
