I agree that fixing pulseaudio is a constructive course of action. But: I disagree with "no bug - no problem" policy. In this case closed bug does not mean that problem isn't there! And second: I am fully agree with Dmitry: pulseaudio is just bells and whistles that should be *optional*! Jaunty was ideal in this: it worked both with and without pulseaudio, without dirty hacks. The title of this bug defines the problem precisely!
