It would be interesting to include Oracle Instant Client (rpm's can be
translated to debs using alien) as a binary package at least in the
platforms where it is available, in the commercial repos or something.

If so, it's quite straightforward to build a tora for Oracle (as
documented in several blogs, such as: http://www.pythian.com/news/4747
/installing-tora-with-oracle-support-on-ubuntu-9-10-karmic-koala) and
include it as a binary alternative for tora.

I find very annoying to deal with Oracle + Tora on every upgrade. And it
is a very important issue on the enterprise, where Oracle is quite
present.
