Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: aptitude

I experienced it while upgrading recently from 9.04 to 9.10 and before
from 8.10 to 9.04. In both cases new kernel was installed in /boot but
grub menu.lst weren't updated. In both cases running old kernel caused
lot of problems at early stage of boot because to much other changes
were introduced. I must manually edit menu.lst or run update-grub. Is
this problem only related to me(ask what more info you need) or
intentional action? If second what is the reason of this or why updater
didn't just ask user for this ?

** Affects: aptitude (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
