Turns out i can't fix it this way all of the time: I'll still get the
hangups on startup occasionally, and at inpredictable times, and
rmmoding+modprobing doesn't help.

This is probably something that went wrong during the several upgrades i
did, and not a bug in a current package. (I've been running Karmic since
it was alpha.) I'd still like to know if someone has a fix for it.
Currently, the only fix i can think of is reinstalling everything which
i plan to do next sunday.
