Public bug reported: Am on Kubuntu Karmic and am unable to use more than one sound device at a time. For example If am playing music via MPD no other sound device would work (amarok, vlc, skype, flash video etc) I will have to stop the current sound application before am able to use another. (And when i say stop I mean complete quit it not just pulse or stop) If am listening to music and I want to make a skype call. I would have to quite the music application otherwise the skype call will not go through. And during the call I will be unable to use any sound device. Same for if am watching a video on Vlc no other sound device would work (Not even system notification sound)
I don't have pulse audio installed and this is my sound card 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02) ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p: bigbrovar 1349 F...m mpd /dev/snd/controlC0: bigbrovar 2206 F.... knotify4 bigbrovar 2230 F.... kmix Card0.Amixer.info: Card hw:0 'Intel'/'HDA Intel at 0xf6dfc000 irq 21' Mixer name : 'Silicon Image SiI1392 HDMI' Components : 'HDA:83847616,1028020a,00100402 HDA:10951392,1028020a,00100000' Controls : 34 Simple ctrls : 21 Date: Thu Oct 29 21:17:43 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release Candidate i386 (20091020.2) Package: alsa-base 1.0.20+dfsg-1ubuntu5 PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB:en PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_NG SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-14.48-generic SourcePackage: alsa-driver Uname: Linux 2.6.31-14-generic i686 ** Affects: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- Cannot use more than one sound device at a time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/463716 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
