#65, getting g-p-m not to react to key presses would be an improvement,
but for me at least (and I'm guessing everyone else with this bug?) the
screen flickers in the GDM login screen, before I press any brightness
keys or attempt to control the brightness at all. So the problem seems
to me to be more fundamental than just how the system reacts to
keystrokes. I think it's just how g-p-m rounds the numbers for the
brightness values.
