yes, I have been searching the web intesively; even if this is the first formal bug report, it seems like I am far from the first one to find this problem.
On ubuntuforums, many users have similar experiences. My belief is that many users consider this kind of old "junk" more toys than actual tools and they do not really care if it can be used for anything. Hence they do not report formally.
