There is no command for that Kees, the mimetype database is made from the .desktop installed and the cache is located to /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache, the user version is ~/.local/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache. What do you mean by 'Are the MIME "source file" locations kept when loading the MIME database'?
