Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xsane

Certain documents that I scan every day have their file names changed as soon
as I click the scan button.
Ubuntu 9.04 32 bit
xsane 0.996

This is bazaar. Every day I scan a batch of documents from work that are each
saved with individual numeric file names that can contain dashes (-) or
underscores(_) or just be a list of up to 10 or more numeric characers.

They can be single page saves or multi page saves, but are always as
.pdf.

Overall , Xsane performs beautifully and I have no real problems, except for
one particular kind fo ducument.
It is always a single page, and its file name begins with the number 9 and is
10 characters long.

For example, 9100503843.pdf As soon as I click the scan button it
always changes to 2147483647.pdf, which is how it is saved to my
desktop. This is very repeatable, it happens every time this kind of
document is scanned and always changes to the same 214... file number.
I then have to change the name of the scanned file before I save it to
its final destination.

I tried truncating the number to 8 characters, leaving off the last number and
that works as expected.
If I change the first character to something other than 9, it still changes the
file name to the 214...
If I add another numeric character making it 11 digits long, it changes it to
the 214... number.
If I put a special character at the end, for example, 9100503843_.pdf, it will
work as expected.

Xsane is absolutely flawless other wise for all my other scans, single
or multi page, simplex, duplex, rotated 90 degrees, single page,
multipage, you name it and it and it works as expected.

Just this one weird behavior with these 10 digit file names.

What you expect to happen: xsane should save the file with the file name you
input in the save dialog field.
What happens: xsane changes the name to a different, but alway same 10 digit
number.

I will give you a few screen shots to show what happens.

This first one is how I try to save the file.

I will submit another post with what it changes it to.
