The part of this complaint: "all of the applications point to the same
path, /usr/bin/python2.6", is fixed in desktopcouch 0.5-0ubuntu1 .
That's bug #451333.
The applications in question are "desktopcouch service" and
"desktopcouch replication to Ubuntu One".
