One other bit of odd behaviour that may or may not be related: when I
unplug the ipod, the mount points (/tmp/ipodXXXXXX and /media/IRIS)
don't get deleted, so a new directory is created next time I plug the
ipod in. I now have several empty directories /tmp/ipodXXXXXX, and
empty directories "/media/IRIS", "/media/IRIS_", "/media/IRIS__",
"/media/IRIS___", etc.
