I fixed the b43 handler in http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core- dev/jockey/ubuntu/revision/373 now. With that I can enable STA, switch to b43, and switch back to STA without ever havning to reboot, and it loads the correct modules and sets the correct blacklist.
