Sir, I was configuring Wired connection. With the latest updates as on 22 Oct 2009, it is now working OK.

I have DHCP disabled on my internet connection. So I wanted to specify IP address of my machine as 192.168.1.4, 255.255.255.0, 192.168.1.1. The connection does not save this information. Even other addresses did not work. They do not get saved. I have been doing it successfully with Ubuntu 9.04.
